Meet the Artist
"Rhythm lives in all of us — dance is just the journey to uncover it."
Chynna Jacobs is a professional dancer, performer, and educator originally from Queens, NY, and raised in Cheshire, CT. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, with a concentration in Arts Management, and continued her professional training through Broadway Dance Center’s prestigious Professional Semester Program in New York City.
During her post-graduate training, Chynna worked extensively with industry professionals across a wide range of styles, sharpening her technical versatility, auditioning skills, and professional artistry. Through intensive workshops, rehearsals with working choreographers, and performance-focused training, she developed the tools essential for navigating the dance industry at a professional level.
Chynna’s dance foundation spans ballet, modern, jazz, tap, street styles, musical theater, West African, and contemporary styles. Her versatility and performance career have led her to renowned stages including Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Fine Arts Center at UMass Amherst.
She received her pre-professional training at the Educational Center for the Arts in New Haven, CT, where she performed notable repertory, including Tensile Involvement by Alwin Nikolai (reconstructed by Peter Kyle and Alberto del Saz) and MinEvent by the Merce Cunningham Dance Company (reconstructed by Lisa Boudreau).
In addition to her work as a dancer and educator, Chynna is the founder of Athletes for the Stage®, a performance nutrition and education platform designed specifically for dancers and performing artists. She is a Certified Nutrition Coach and Weight Management Specialist, and her work centers on fueling the body for strength, longevity, and sustainable performance.
Athletes for the Stage® bridges evidence-based nutrition science with the unique physical and mental demands of the performing arts. Through individualized guidance, educational resources, and holistic support, Chynna helps dancers build a strong, balanced relationship with food—one that supports their training, performance seasons, and long-term well-being without sacrificing joy or identity.
As an educator, Chynna is deeply passionate about sharing dance with individuals of all backgrounds and experience levels. She believes movement is a powerful tool for self-expression, connection, and growth, and is committed to creating inclusive, empowering spaces where dancers feel supported—whether they are pursuing a professional career or simply seeking joy through movement.
